I Corinthians 9:22 To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some. As I was in the shower this morning this verse came to mind as I considered a personal circumstance I recognized recently. When we become a Christian we start becoming connected to fellow Christians. Spiritually we become like family. It is a naturally comfortable bond. Our Scriptures teach us to give and even "sell out" to God. I agree with this by the way. Don't take it that I don't. There becomes a danger in our "sell out". We become cloaked in Christianity and forget our humanity. We minister to those within our club and become uncomfortable being outside the non-Christian realm because we are taught to be separate from that which is not of God. However, Paul has indicated he has become all things to all people that is it possible that he might win some. This means that he may have sat wound playing spades with some non-Christians. He may have gone garage sale-ing with some friends. He may have been in a softball league with some guys who drink beer while they played. He may have been part of Habit-tat for Humanity. He may have watched sports with his family members who were not Christians. He may have gone to a Garth Brooks concert with a buddy. The point is...not all things are Christian but all things can be made Godly by the Spirit in which they are performed. When we become insulated in our Christianity it becomes a stumbling block and a hindrance rather than a witness. When someone asks for your time and the answer becomes filled with Monday through Sunday something Christian activity unavailability, it is not a witness but rather a slap in the face. We must be careful our Christianity does not become our God. When this happens.... our Christianity becomes a stumbling block rather than a witness.
